Title: First-Time Caller

Author: B.K. Borison

Publisher: Berkley

Genre: Contemporary Romance

It’s February 1st; it’s time for love 💕 month! Bring on the rom-coms! Today I have a recommendation for one that comes out mid month…

{Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted copy of First-Time Caller by B.K. Borison. The narration by E.J. Bingham and Hathaway Lee was phenomenal. They voice Aiden and Lucy exactly how I pictured them in my head. They truly elevated a story that is already 5 ⭐️s. I adored this one.}

If you’re the type of reader that does their research before starting a book, you will notice that this book is 450 pages. Kinda long for a romance novel, huh? But, I can assure that it doesn’t FEEL that long. There is no lags, parts you want to skim or wish were edited.

What is this book in one sentence? A hopeless romantic single mom, with a funny and supportive secondary cast, meets her opposite and grumpy sunshine counterpart, who has fallen out of the idea of love, in this “Sleepless in Seattle” inspired novel.

Aiden Valentine hosts a radio show where callers can call in looking for advice on love. The only problem? He isn’t sure he believes in love. After watching his mom be sick as a child and his dad struggle, he refuses to put himself out there; then he can never have his heart broken.

One night Lucie’s tween daughter calls into Aiden’s show asking for help with her mom’s love life. The phone call goes viral! Lucie who is a mechanic and much more comfortable working on cars at the shop, decides to be bold and brave and take up the offer to be Aiden’s temporary co-host to find that someone special. Let’s just say, sparks fly!

“What she needs is to see her mom prioritizing her life for once, so she can do the same.”

Aiden is a swoon worthy book boyfriend. He rescues Lucie from a date when she’s stood up. He also keeps a list of all her favorite things. 🥹🥹

“It’s a list, a list of my favorite things.”

The icing on the cake for me is that this book takes place in Baltimore; somewhere I was born and raised. So much nostalgia!
