March begins the last Q1 month of publishing and boy are there some good books coming out today! I’ve read a few early copies and have many more on my #tbr Let’s start with one of my favorites . . .
☀️Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone☀️
{Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook! It’s narrated by Alex Finke who excelled at this heartwarming book.}
Grieving the loss of her best friend, a young woman’s life is turned upside down when she meets a grumpy stranger who swears he can help her live again, in this heartwarming, slow-burn romance . . .
Grief stricken Lenny is floundering after losing her best friend, Lou. They were really more like sisters. When Lou was going through chemo they made a “live again” list of all the things Lenny should to do to survive her grief. Except, now Lou is gone and Lenny can’t touch the list. She can barely commit to a job or go back to the apartment they shared together. Through a nannying gig, she meets Miles, the uncle of the child she watches. He understands Lenny’s sadness and wants to help. They strike a deal. Lenny will help awkward Miles with his niece (He’s not great with kids but desperately wants to be) and Miles will help Lenny with her list.
I thought the author did a fantastic job showing grief is not linear. She balanced some of the more somber moments with laughs, love and a heartwarming story. I really loved the author’s previous book Ready or Not, but I think I like this one even more. Cara Bastone, I am a fan!
