Title: The God of the Woods
Author: Liz Moore
Publisher: Riverhead Books
Genre: Literary Mystery
Ok, friends! I know everyone read this one over the summer when it was big, big, BIG. Well, I didn’t. I read about 100 pages in my @bookofthemonth copy and could tell with it being multi-POV and timelines it was complicated. My summer was busy and I just didn’t have the bandwidth for this one at the time. Knowing that I would be seeing Liz Moore at the TX Book Festival @texasbookfest last weekend I decided it was time to circle back to it. After having a grasp again in print, I decided to switch to the audio for my flights thanks to my friends @prhaudio #partner The book is narrated by Saskia Maarleveld who elevates any story. Due to the amount of characters and non-linear timelines I would recommend starting in print until you have a firm grasp of the story, or if you start with the audio listen at a slower speed than you normally do, at first.
What are you in for:
⛰️ Atmospheric
⛰️ Adirondacks
⛰️ Summer Camps
⛰️ 2 Missing Siblings in different decades
⛰️ Generations of family lies
⛰️ Thrilling & Dramatic
“When a teenager vanishes from her Adirondack summer camp, two worlds collide”
As with most mysteries, it’s hard to say much without giving anything away. This book is definitely a slow burn, so I think it is helpful to know that. The author is freaking brilliant and it shines though in her writing. If you ever get a chance to go to an event she is at, DO IT! It’s ok to DNF books, of course, but I’m glad there are some I decide that I’m reading at the wrong time and circle back when I can fully appreciate them.
I recommend this one!
