Two Pub Day Audiobook Reviews!

Title: The Plus One

Author: Mazey Eddings

Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Thank you to @macmillan.audio for the #alc Dual narrated by Imani Jade Powers and Joe Arden; this was fantastic on audio!

The Plus One by Mazey Eddings is considered the third book in the author’s ‘A Brush with Love’ series. Though, previous friends appear in this book, it is very sporadic and I think you can read this as a stand-alone. What bridges this series is the author has chosen to write about some sort of mental health in each of the books. I’ve got to say, I think this one is my favorite. The author did an excellent job with PTSD, trauma, and anxiety.

“Therapy is scary because it requires you to be brave. It’s one of the most radical forms of self love”

But, that’s not what you’re here for . . . You’re here for the spice! This one was pretty spicy! It caught me off guard a little at times since I was listening to it!

The book opens up with Indira walking in on her cheating boyfriend, so she’s forced to go live with her brother for awhile. He’s knee deep in wedding preparations with his partner. Also there is her brothers best friend, Jude home from an oversees doctor assignment, who is Indira’s childhood nemesis.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 It’s kinda fun they are all doctors in the book and they watch Grey’s Anatomy. Over the top wedding planning! Indira and Jude have great chemistry. It’s sweet to see, as the threads start to unravel, maybe they didn’t hate each other as kids after all!

Title: The Soulmate

Author: Sally Hepworth

Publisher: St. Martin’s Press

Genre: Domestic Suspense

Thank you again @macmillian.audio for the #alc This one is dual narrated by Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry and they did a fantastic job with each of the characters.

Sally Hepworth is the queen of Domestic Suspense, but I just haven’t been jiving with the subject matters of her last few books. I just didn’t love the tropes of this one and on top of that found myself bored in the middle of it. On the positive side, I loved that it was a dual POV, and fast chapters, full of family, and had vivid scenery that I could just imagine in my mind!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Take my review with a grain of salt. Maybe I’m just sensitive or picky. Lots of people are loving this book! Best wishes to the author of her American tour!
