When I saw that the audiobook of Rock Paper Scissors was on @scribd, I decided to listen to it and instead of reading it. I’ve really been digging thrillers on audiobooks lately. This one is a dual narration by Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine. They did a wonderful job. Lets just say I was so into this audiobook, I was finding things to clean, including dusting my blinds so I could keep listening! Kudos. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they had such an eery atmospheric book to preform. The author knock this one out of the park!
📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚
Title: Rock Paper Scissors
Author: Alice Feeney
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Genre: Domestic Suspense/Thriller
Adam and Amelia’s 10 year marriage is in trouble, so a weekend away is just what they need. When Amelia wins a raffle prize at work, she doesn’t really ask any questions and away they go for a weekend away in Scotland. They arrived to a converted chapel at Blackwater Loch in a snowstorm, and a power outage; What else could go wrong?
This is narrated is a dual prospective from Adam and Amelia which I loved. Adam chapters teach us all about his facial blindness; something I had never heard of before. Amelia’s chapters are very cleverly done as letters of each past anniversary as they celebrate and exchange that year of traditional gifts.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I loved the spooky & wintery atmosphere of this one. For some reason it gave me major Agatha Christie vibes the way she writes atmosphere. This one has twist after twist. Some maybe you’ll figure out, but I think most will be shocked by the bigger twist. Not quite a 5 star for me because I thought the ending sort of just ended and a few minor issues along the way, but very well done. The book nerd in me also enjoyed that the characters were screenwriters and authors. That was fun. This is the perfect book for your spooky #tbr!
