📚Book Club Review 📚

@mommaleighellensbooknook and I listened to early audiobook copies (fabulously narrated by Linda Jones) thanks to @prhaudio and knew right away that this would make a fantastic @bookfriendsbookclub pick!

We are so grateful for the enthusiasm our readers showed to author @fionadavisauthor all month long and loved having Fiona join us for a zoom last night! What a way to start our 2025 reading off. We love diving deep into

books and Fiona was so gracious to answer all our questions and share a slide show presentation.

Short Review: Fiona Davis’s love of NYC landmarks, rich history and mysterious elements was on full display in The Stolen Queen. This may just be her best book yet! (I say this every time, so until her next book!)

One of the questions we love to ask our authors is so basic, but often proves to be the most fascinating. “Where did the idea for this book come from?” Inspiration can strike anywhere and would you believe a photo of Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala in 2018 next to a looted Egyptian Coffin Case planted the seed!

There is so much I loved about this book! I love a dual timeline + POV, but this one was so unique because one of our main characters, Charlotte, was both featured in the 1930s as an archaeologist in Egypt and the 1970s as a museum curator at The Met. In the 1930s she had such a promising career until her world shattered with devastating losses. I thought the character of Charlotte represented a strong female, but one that had to go on a journey of healing.

In the 1970s our other main character, Annie, is floundering. She lives with her mother who is needy and self centered. Annie loves fashion, but currently cleans the apartment complex she lives in for the older owner. Life can be so unexpected and an errand to The Met turns into a job for Annie where she crosses paths with Charlotte. Annie’s arc feels very coming of age and I loved the focus of an intergenerational friendship.

For readers who love history, culture, behind the scenes of museums + The Met Gala, an older character who balances an ambitious career with loss, and a coming of age feel.
