Title: Donât Make Me Turn This Life Around
Author: Camille Pagan
Publisher: Lake Union
Genre: Womenâs Fiction
Libby gets the all clear that she has officially been cancer free for 10 years. What a milestone! But, why doesnât she feel more happy? Why doesnât she feel more alive? Something feels offâŠ
Ok, so her pilot husband, Shiloh, has been working a lot of long hours and is being a little distance. One of her twin tween daughters was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the past year and that has been terrifying and a challenge to navigate. Her brother tells her heâs getting a divorce. Then the big one . . . her father passed away recently. Libby feels like she is stuck under a dark cloudâŠ
So she decides itâs time for a family vacation! To reset. Too reconnect. Or whatever. And what better place to go then to Puerto Rico the place she fell in love with her husband and decided to fight her cancer. But a perfect vacation it is not and everything seems to go wrong, including a tropical storm!
Rating: âïžâïžâïžđ« I can see what the author was trying to do with Libbyâs character and making her be optimistic, but for me there just was too much negativity and too many things going wrong in this book. I also felt like it focused too much on the children; one can only take so much tween attitude! It focused a lot of the attention on the daughterâs medical condition too. I did enjoy Libbyâs friendship with the older woman, Milagros, who they went to stay with in Puerto Rico.
