False Witness was my very first book by author Karin Slaughter and talk about a roller coaster ride. This one was WILD! This is not for the faint of heart as the topics in this book are super dark and uncomfortable. Thriller readers are generally used to these things. Non-thriller readers . . . you’ve been warned!

The first 20 pages open up as a flashback to the Summer of 1998 . . . a prologue of sorts and man was I hooked. This gave us our first glimpse into sisters Leigh and Callie’s devastating past. To their unflappable bond. “Family is everything.” ⬅️ I loved the sisters’s bond.

Flash forward to present day and the sister’s past is suddenly catching up to them. Leigh is a high profile defense attorney and finds herself having defend a wealthy man accused of rape. But when she meets him, she realizes she actually already knows him, he is connected to her past, and he might just know the secret she has been keeping.

Besides the blackmail, a big part of this book was exploring how the sister’s both faced the same trauma but ended up on two very different paths. This felt, so raw and real. Now these girls had a deadbeat parent, but I related to this as a parent in the sense that you can parent your children the same, but they all end up different. Funny, how you can find messages in even crazy thrillers.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This book is long at 435 pages but I promise it will fly by. I loved the writing, but I’m still not completely sure how I feel about the ending.

**Fozzie gives this one 2 paws 🐾🐾 up 😂**
