Book Club + Author Zooms are my favorite! This past week @bookfriendsbookclub got to meet with Pam Jenoff for the third time! If you’re looking for some amazing #backlist titles be sure to check out Code Name Sapphire, The Woman With The Blue Star and many others. But let’s talk about her latest novel Last Twilight in Paris . . .

We asked Pam all about her writing and where she gets her ideas. Pam informed us she is a big time “pantser” and is always looking for a “gasp” moment when deciding to research and pursue a new book. A moment that lives by the mantra, “The truth is stranger than fiction”.

In the Last Twilight in Paris that moment was the ‘Levitan’ a department/furniture store in Paris that served as a Nazi prison. It was also where Jews were forced to sell items that were plundered from Jewish homes. Can.you.imagine!!!

“Everything will change and we should take this moment while we can. Tomorrow is promised to no one”

This book also tackles the trauma of post war, the role of the Red Cross, and is a story of full mystery, love, heartbreak, grief and healing.

“A Parisian department store, a mysterious necklace and a woman’s quest to unlock a decade-old mystery are at the center of this riveting novel of love and survival.”

Often HF offers dual timelines with a historic and modern day, but this one offers two historic ones in the 1940s & 1950s. It’s both dual POV and timeline. The audiobook is simply fantastic narrated by two favorites: Saskia Maarleveld and Therese Plummer.

“Because it’s part of us, part of our story or who we are and how we got here. Not talking about it doesn’t make it go away. It just pulls us further apart.”

One of my favorite HF authors…I hope you will check out her books! Thank you to all our @bookfriendsbookclub members for all the support you showed Pam the month of February! {And thank you to @netgalley @parkrowbooks & @htp_hive for my #gifted copies.}
