Happily Never After - Audiobook Review

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

Title: Happily Never After

Author: Lynn Painter

Publisher: Berkley

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Thank you @librofm + @prhaudio for the listening copy of Happily Never After. It’s a dual POV book, so I loved that it was dual narrated. This is the second book that I’ve listened recently by Helen Laser and she’s quickly becoming a favorite. This is my first book by Sean Patrick Hopkins, but he was fantastic and has a huge catalog of books that he’s narrated.

Happily Never After was such a unique and fun premise. Sophie finds out just before she is set to marry that her fiancé is cheating on her. She would normally just call it off, but her future FIL is her dad’s boss, plus she works at the same company as her fiancé, so she hires an “objector” to call off her wedding. That’s where she meets Max.

She never expects to hear from Max again, but he needs a woman to help object at a wedding and can’t stop thinking about Sophie, so calls her up. Sophie loves the rush from this little side hustle and, of course, her and Max have instant chemistry. However, both of them have been hurt in the past and decide to form a friendship. They basically become best friends over the next couple of months and I absolutely adored it. However, some readers are going to hope for a little more tension in the story, maybe?

👎🏻Sort of Third Act Break Up

But then we got a gem of a Larry scene and quote! 🤷‍♀️

“Who cares if you’ve been hurt in the past. You have to get hurt to get to the good stuff. You learn how to walk for F sake! You make balance and gait adjustments. If you never fell you would do something outrageously stupid like walk on your toes like a ballerina, which would result in you getting your A** kicked every day of your life for looking like a dipsh*t”. “That doesn’t make any sense.” “No, but the first part did.”

Out tomorrow! 3/12 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
