Title: How to Find Love In a Bookshop
Author: Veronica Henry
Publisher: Viking Books
Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Chick Lit
When I started this book I thought this was going to be a classic romance with a trope kind of book. But that’s not at really what this was. I would describe this book as British Chick Lit with splashes here and there of romance. There are so many characters. So.many.characters. I love when books include a ‘family tree’ in the beginning and this one could’ve benefited from one to keep everyone straight! All the characters sort of have their own mini story arcs within the walls of The Nightingale Bookshop.
2 favorite quotes:
“It’s why I do what I do. There’s a book for everyone, even if you don’t think there is. A book that reaches in and grabs your soul.” ⬅️ I love this one so much I use it on my blog (link in bio)
“As the door shut behind her newest customer, she felt a tiny thrill, and hoped he’d read the book and fall in love with reading. That was the whole point of Nightingale Books. It cast a spell over its customers by introducing them to the magic. And how wonderful, for her to open up a whole new world.”
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 While I love the title of this book, it sort of ruined my expectations for it. I was expecting more of a romance. Not really the book’s fault. Expectations are funny like that.
Purchasing from the link below supports independent bookstores and my site! (I bought my hardcover used for this specific cover. It appears to only be available in paperback in a new cover again.)
