Survive The Night

Survive The Night is the fifth book by popular author Riley Sager. And for this book it’s either going to be you’re #teamsager or not. This one is getting VERY mixed reviews! It’s one of those books you have to overlook a lot of things and decide if you can like a book for pure entertainment. It’s a highly binge-able book! I haven’t been reading a lot of thrillers lately because I’m over the unreliable narrator and bad endings, so I probably shouldn’t of liked this one so much; But I loved it!

📚 Book Review 📚

Title: Survive The Night

Author: Riley Sager

Publisher: Dutton Books

Genre: Thriller

It’s November of 1991 and Nirvana plays in the tape deck . . . Come as you are . . .

Charlie needs a ride home from college to Ohio pronto. Her roommate was murdered and she can’t deal with things. And the murderer is still on the loose!!! Like what!?!? So, she meets Josh at the ride share board and as luck would have it he’s headed home too to care for his sick father. Or so he says . . . 😳

Charlie is a film major and is obsessed with movies. She has been since her parent’s died when she was younger. It was a way for her to deal with grief. She finds herself falling back into these habits and as she journeys home Josh. She starts hallucinating in movies scenes in the car and suddenly thinks she remembers seeing the murderer who killed her roommate. She becomes paranoid that she is driving with a serial killer. 🤯

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ok, so yeah, who gets in a car with a stranger!? All of Sager’s lead female characters are classic movie characters similar to those in a horror movie. The ones you’re screaming at the tv “why would you do something so stupid!?” However, I still read this book in less than 24 hours, loved the 90s nostalgia, movie references, the crazy journey, and even the ending! #sorrynotsorry

PS - I’ll be back later this week with a post ranking the order of favorite Sager books. Can’t wait for the next one!
