Here’s a favorite I’ve been sitting on and been meaning to post! This is Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting in the US. I just bought the UK edition that has a different name and cover on book depository. It was the ultimate #booknerd moment wanting this cover instead 🤣
Title: Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting/The People on Platform 5
Author: Clare Pooley
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Have you ever stopped think about your day to day interactions with the people you see on your commute? Or maybe at a coffee shop or the gym?? And what would happen if you started talking to them and became friends with them? That’s the premise of this book but on a larger scale I think it promotes kindness, to pay attention to others and I can get behind that!
Oh, Iona! Iona, Iona, Iona. I just love older quirky characters and she mad my heart pitter-patter. But, then again, so did the rest of this cast of characters. This group! I loved them so much!
Iona is a creature of habit and boards the train and rides in the same car every day. Then one day a man starts choking on a grape and someone helps him. This sets off a spark and a chain of events where suddenly everyone is talking and helping each other. What skills do I have? What do you need? How can I help? I loved it. I loved how they all had silly nicknames for each other before they knew their real names. I loved how age, race, sex, class…none of that mattered!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ glowing stars. This one is sure to put a smile on your face. I’m filing this one on my favorites shelf, for sure!
