“It has been said that books find their own readers—-but sometimes they need someone to show them the way.”
The Door-To-Door Bookstore has one of my favorite themes . . . An unlikely friendship between an older person and a younger person.
German bookseller, Carl, delivers books to special customers in the evening hours after closing time walking through the picturesque alleys of the city. Carl collects fictional characters for friends, but these regular customers have also become friends over the years. Delivering these books is essentially their most important connection to the world.
Everything starts to change when not only Carl loses his job, but randomly a little girl starts tagging along with Carl on his walks.
This book really shows you the power of books! Small is size this book packs a punch. I absolutely loved it!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Absolutely, utterly, charming!! This is a feel-good story of books and unexpected friendships. It has a little bit of a slower start, but keep going past the 40 page mark. It’s well worth it.
CW: domestic violence off page, elderly abuse (1 time)
