“People who truly loved once are far more likely to love again.”
There is something I always love about a debut novel, but after reading the author’s note and seeing what a personal story this was for her, it made me love it even more. She truly poured her heart & soul onto these pages. If you’re someone who likes a little more substance in your contemporary stories and aren’t afraid to go on a journey with a main character dealing with unfair circumstances and grief, this one is for you! Full of comedy and a supporting cast of friends, these bonus intangibles are something I always seek.
Kate is kinda a hot mess. Who can blame her? She’s been grieving the loss of her husband the past two years. She lost him far too young and has been treading water raising her son and working at her university fundraiser job. When a work trip leaves her stranded for the weekend with her boss, she finally can breathe for the first time and truly grieve.
“The point is, it’s your life. Your decision. Your timing. You might resist it now, but you’ll know the moment when it comes, and not before. And then you’ll realize the bigger risk is not taking a risk.”
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫Heartbreaking, but full of hope. This felt like your heart breaking into mosaic pieces then being put back together in something just as beautiful, but that you weren’t expecting. My only quibble is the various timelines. It took me longer to become invested as I got a grasp on the books setup.
