Title: The Lost Summers of Newport
Authors: Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig, Karen White
Publisher: William Morrow
Genre: Historical Fiction
Where are my historical fiction fans at!? The Lost Summers of Newport is a simply must read this summer. Go grab yourself a gin & tonic like they did in the gilded age or a mocktail and allow these pages to transport you to the cliffs of Newport, RI through three different timelines of history, fame and fortune.
2019: Andie just landed her dream job producing a reality show focused on restoring lavish historical houses. The latest house? One Lucia “Lucky” Sprague. Who will only allow the show on two conditions: nobody talks to her and do not touch the boathouse. {I’m already intrigued!}
1899: Ellen is hired to give singing lessons to Miss Maybelle Sprague; a young naive heiress. She is supposed to learned to sing a song to woo an Italian prince. Ellen becomes friends with Maybelle but her job is to polish her up to launch her into society. But Ellen has her own past…
1957: In this timeline we meet Lucky when she was younger and first married with a daughter. She finds herself in a loveless marriage to an alcoholic. Maybe we’ll finally learn why the boathouse is off limits!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow, do these authors seamlessly weave these stories together. Each chapter begins and ends into each other. I am blown away that three separate authors wrote this book. Our bookclub (@bookfriendsbookclub) had a lengthy discussion as to who we thought wrote what timeline. We are dying to know!!! This book really has is all. Summery vibes, history, mystery. romance, characters to root and maybe some you want to throw under the bus - hahaha! I definitely recommend this one for your summer TBR.
