{Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook! This book is read by the author and I thought she did a fantastic job!}
Short Review: The Love We Found is the long awaited follow up to the @reesesbookclub RBC 2017 pick—The Light We Lost. While this book does a good job filling you in on the previous book just enough so you are not lost, I’d still recommend reading it first. It’s more impactful that way. I am not an overly emotional person; it’s a skill I forced myself to learn as a military spouse. But, @jillsantopolo makes me feel all the things and emotional every time!
The Love We Found reads like ongoing journal entries to Gabe, Lucy’s ‘person’ that she lost nearly ten years ago. They met in college and found themselves in each others lives when they needed it most. Gabe was a photojournalist and Lucy, a writer, has been tasked going through an old box of photos for an anniversary exhibit coming up. In the box, she finds a mysterious address in Rome. Why did he have this address? Did he have a secret life in Italy? Lucy is not an impulsive person—but Gabe always was—and she finds herself booking a last minute ticket to figure out this mystery.
This book touches on some deeper themes because Lucy is ready to tell her youngest son Samual who his real father is, but her ex-husband doesn’t want to. It also deals with:
💕Hidden truths
💕Loss of a child
💕Blended families
💕Raising teenagers
💕Second chance at love
💕Confronting the past
💕Embracing the future
I loved all the art and photography in this book. Second books can be tricky, but I think this one is up to the challenge. 4.5 ⭐️
