Three Backlist BOTM Reviews

Today I have 3 @bookofthemonth #backlist books that I’ve read in the past few months.
PS: I Hate You by Lauren Connolly - I’ll admit it took awhile for this one to grow on me. The main character Maddie—is a lot! There is enemies-to-lovers, then there is Maddie and Dominic…oof. Dom was Maddie’s brother, Josh’s, best friend from childhood, until he recently passed away. Maddie assumed after the funeral she would never have to see Dom again. But, Josh had other plans pairing these two together to spread his ashes on a series of trips. Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook narrated by the lovely Karissa Vacker!
Pictures of You by Emma Grey - This book is different than Ms. Grey’s first novel—The Last Love Note—but equally worthy of praise. I honestly went into this book blind—just knowing that I liked the author—and I stand by this decision and recommend that you do too! It’s a read you will be bingeing not only for the content, but the short chapters too. I’m not a big Colleen Hoover stan, but I’ve seen a lot of comparisons to her work. This book was recently optioned and I can absolutely see it on screen. It has a cinematic feel to it. Thank you @librofm for the #gifted audiobook dual narrated by Kristy Best and Nic English. Because these are Australian characters (so is the author) I liked listening especially for the accents.
One-Star Romance by Laura Hankin - If it isn’t obvious by now that I’m an audiobook fiend, let it be know that I listen to books daily! I’m a #moodreader so I don’t usually have a lot of holds on Libby through my library. I prefer to scan through the ‘available now’ category and find one. When I saw this one was available immediately from my Library, I jumped at the chance to remove it from my shameful pile of BOTM I own but haven’t read. I thought I knew what this book was about—the best man gives the maid of honor author a one star review and then obviously they get together—but I was wrong! This book reads more contemporary and coming-of-age of characters in their 20s then 30s. Does the guy and the girl eventually get together? Yeah. But it was so much more—and while frustrating at times—I really liked this one. A solid read! Approach it correctly and I think you will too.
